11/17/15

THANK YOU  Thank you to everyone – Friends and browsers – who helped make the Fall book sale a success.  Look for information about dates for a Spring or Summer sale shortly.  In related news, we hope the elevator will be repaired this week, and work on the outdoor lift should be completed within a month.  We thank you again for your patience while repairs were made.

PJs 4 XMAS  The library is playing host to a PJs 4 Xmas donation box this year.  Please feel free to drop off new children’s pajamas and support this great local cause.

CHRISTMAS CARDS  A number of Christmas cards are laid out on the table to the left of the reading area.  These will be sent to residents of nursing homes in Ogdensburg.  Please take a moment to add your well-wishes and thoughts of holiday cheer to these cards – you can write in one or in all of them.

COMPUTER HELP  Need help with your eReader, the Internet, or Microsoft Office?  We hold personalized drop-in computer instruction sessions four times a month.  Stop in this Saturday from 11 – 12 or next Tuesday (the 24th) from 6 – 7 PM.  Call ahead for an appointment or just bring your questions.

MUSIC AND MOVEMENT Toddlers are invited to shake out their sillies every Tuesday at 10 AM. We’ll have music in the air, instruments to play along, parachutes to hide under, and more.  Meet other area families and come dance with us!

STORY TIME  Every Wednesday at 10:30 AM we share a picture book (or two) and do a simple craft.  This week we’re feeling thankful.  All children ages 3 – 6 are welcome.

JUST ARRIVED  Feeling the chill in the air at last?  Warm up with a brand-new thriller.  Recent additions to our shelves include Umberto Eco’s Numero Zero, Faye Kellerman’s Theory of Death, her husband Jonathan Kellerman’s Golem of Paris, Tess Gerritsen’s Playing with Fire, and Michael Connelly’s The Crossing.  Master of Horror Stephen King is back with The Bazaar of Bad Dreams, a collection of short stories.  If you prefer settling in with an educational tome, we always have options for you.  Read about the stuff of the universe in Dark Matter and the Dinosaurs, or join Matt Kaplan in The Science of the Magical as he takes a look at the facts and possibilities behind everything from the Philosopher’s Stone to X-Men-style mutants.  Pick up Thunder & Lightning by Lauren Redniss for stories about how we’ve viewed the weather throughout recorded history, or dip into a history of a different vintage with American Wine.  All of these and more, plus the latest DVDs, are available and waiting for you at the library.

We welcome your QUESTIONS, COMMENTS, CONCERNS, PURCHASE REQUESTS, AND PROGRAMMING IDEAS.  Contact us at 312 Washington Street, ogdlib@ncls.org, 393-4325, or through any of our social media sites (you can do a search for Ogdensburg Public Library, or find the links on our website.)

WEEKLY HOURS are 9 AM to 8 PM Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, 9 AM to 5 PM Wednesday and Friday, and 9 AM to 5 PM on Saturday.  We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you at your library!
