FAMILY BOOK CLUB  Talk about E. B. White’s beloved children’s classic Charlotte’s Web and learn to crochet this Thursday the 25th at 5 PM.  New families are always welcome.

 

BOOK SALE  Please join the Friends of the Library for their Spring Book Sale from the evening of May 9th through the 18th.  Proceeds fund library programming and other purchases throughout the year.  Further details on the sale will follow.

 

MAY PROGRAMS  Social Hour returns to the second Wednesday of the month at 2 PM, and we’ll be having the Adult Craft – tulip painted glasses – on Thursday the 9th at 2 PM.  Movie Night, featuring a dogged film, will be Thursday the 16th at 5:30 PM.  Children can make and race origami frogs on Thursday the 23rd at 5 PM, and Family Book Club will meet to discuss Roald Dahl’s Matilda on Thursday the 30th at 5 PM.  Computer Help Drop-In hours will be on Saturdays the 4th and 18th from 11 AM – 12 PM and Tuesdays the 7th and 28th from 6 – 7 PM.  The library will be closed on Monday the 27th in honor of Memorial Day.

REGULAR PROGRAMS  Music and Movement for toddlers is Tuesday at 10 AM.  Stories and Songs, for ages 2 – 4, will return on May 18th.  Drop-in computer help will be tonight the 23rd from 6 – 7 PM.  Call the library or check online for all of the details on all of our upcoming events. 

JUST ARRIVED  Looking for a new board book to read to your child?  Explore a mixed-up farm with Rory Feek’s The Cow Said Neigh, or play along with Rosa in Rosa Loves Cars by Jessica Spanyol.  In picture books, celebrate fathers with Chris Raschka’s Side by Side.  Learn to count in a festive style with Roseanne Greenfield Thong’s One is a Piñata, and learn about some large reptiles in Beware of the Crocodile by Martin Jenkins or some much smaller amphibians in The Frog Book by Steve Jenkins.  Slightly older children might enjoy learning about the space race in Don Brown’s Rocket to the Moon or discovering the history of the Himalayas in Everest by Sangma Francis.  New readers can try Yasmin the Fashionista by Saadia Faruqi or Fox & Chick: The Quiet Boat Ride and Other Stories by Sergio Ruzzier.  For elementary-aged children, we have Sasha and Puck and the Potion of Luck, the first in the Elixir Fixers series by Daniel Nayeri, and When a Ghost Talks, Listen, the second in Tim Tingle’s How I Became a Ghost series.
