WEEKLY QUOTE  “In early June the world of leaf and blade and flowers explodes, and every sunset is different.” ― John Steinbeck

GARDEN CLUB  Thank you to the Garden Club for the immense amount of work they have put into the gardens around the Library and in Library Park.  The flowers are in enthusiastic bloom and everything looks beautiful.  Take a moment to appreciate their efforts the next time you’re out for a stroll around the building.

MOVIE NIGHT  Stop in for popcorn, soda, and a recent animated movie about animals who walk, talk, and solve crimes this Thursday the 16th at 5:30 PM.

MIXED MEDIA ART  Come to the library next Saturday the 25th at 2 PM to learn how to create a unique piece of art using several different kinds of materials.  This program is open to those ages nine and above.

HUMANS VS ZOMBIES  On Wednesday the 29th you’ll have another chance to battle the undead apocalypse – or join it.  Come to Library Park at 11 AM (weather permitting) to play.

REGULAR PROGRAMS  Music and Movement for toddlers is Tuesday at 10 AM.  Story Time for ages 3 – 6, with picture books and crafts, is Wednesday at 10:30 AM.  Drop-in computer help will be this Saturday the 18th from 11 AM – 12 PM and Tuesday the 28th from 6 PM – 7 PM.  Call the library or check out our website for details on all of our upcoming events – weekly, monthly, or one-time-only.

JUST ARRIVED  We usually highlight paper books in this space, but the library has a large collection of media, as well.  Recent audiobook selections include everything from nonfiction (Michael Strahan’s Wake Up Happy and Timothy Egan’s The Immortal Irishman) to mystery (Terror in Taffeta) to general fiction (The Summer Before the War by Helen Simpson or The One-in-a-Million Boy by Monica Wood.)  If you have a long commute, are headed out on vacation, or have always wanted to read and garden at the same time, why not try one?  Over in DVDs we have the latest season of Doctor Who, as well as additional seasons of NCIS: Los Angeles and Walker: Texas Ranger.  You might also want to check out a new Western starring Natalie Portman, Jane Got a Gun, or re-watch Star Wars: The Force Awakens.  Remember that you can always suggest books, audiobooks, DVDs, and even eBooks for the library to purchase.  Just speak to a library staff member or make your request online.  We can’t purchase everything, but we do want to hear what kinds of stories you like.

We welcome your QUESTIONS, COMMENTS, CONCERNS, PURCHASE REQUESTS, AND PROGRAMMING IDEAS.  Contact us at 312 Washington Street, ogdlib@ncls.org, 393-4325, or through any of our social media sites (you can do a search for Ogdensburg Public Library, or find the links on our website.)

WEEKLY HOURS are 9 AM to 8 PM Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday and 9 AM to 5 PM on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.  Our summer hours will start on July 2nd, when we will close at 3 PM on Saturdays.  We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you at your library!
