WORD OF THE WEEK  Roseate: Pink in color, like a rose; often used to describe a sunrise.  Can also be used to describe an overly-optimistic outlook on life.

ART SHOW  Stop in Monday through Friday this week to view artwork created by patrons of the Seaway House.  The pieces are on display upstairs in the auditorium.  There will be a reception from 12 – 2 PM on Wednesday the 12th, featuring a special performance from the Lighthouse Band.

SOCIAL HOUR  After the reception, join us for our monthly social hour this Wednesday the 12th at 2 PM.  We’ll have coffee, treats, and conversation.

CRAFT  We’re continuing our crafting series for adults this Thursday the 13th at 2 PM.  Come make something fun and floral.

MOVIE NIGHT  Can’t get enough of Legos?  Join us this Thursday the 13th at 5:30 PM for some plastic superhero adventures.  We’ll have popcorn and drinks available.

BOOK SALE  The Friends of the Library’s summer book sale is almost here.  Stop in from 5 PM on Thursday the 20th to 5 PM Friday the 28th for great deals on books, DVDs, and more.

REGULAR PROGRAMS  Music and Movement for toddlers is Tuesday at 10 AM.  Story Time for ages 3 – 6, with picture books and crafts, is on Wednesday and Saturday at 10:30 AM.  A drop-in computer help hour will take place this Saturday the 15th from 11 AM – 12 PM.  Call the library or check out our website for all the details on all of our upcoming events.

JUST ARRIVED  This week we have new mysteries and thrillers from Meg Gardiner, William Shaw, and James Patterson.  Tad Williams, Seanan McGuire, and Catherynne M. Valente provide new works of fantasy, while the latest from Danielle Steel, Diana Gabaldon, and T. C. Boyle are also on our shelves.  Get out into the wild with Best Easy Day Hikes: Adirondacks, Five Star Trails: Adirondacks and The Adirondacks: Season by Season.  Bring your sketchbook with you and take inspiration from Drawing Trees and Leaves.  In young adult novels, we have two new works dealing with the consequences of internet celebrity.  In Tash Hearts Tolstoy, the title character tries to handle unexpected fame after the popularity of her Anna-Karenina-based webseries takes off.  The Unlikelies follows a group of teens who, inspired by a single spontaneous act, make a pact to continue doing good deeds anonymously but eventually find themselves out of their depth.  Similarly, the main character in The Leaf Reader starts out telling fortunes for fun, but winds up tangled in something darker.
