LIBRARY CLOSED  The library will be closed this Saturday, July 25, so the parade can proceed.  We hope you’re enjoying the Seaway Festival!

BOOK SALE  The book sale will continue until Friday at 5 PM.  There will be no bag sale this year. Make sure you stop by this week to stock up on books, DVDs, and more.  Weather permitting, there will also be a tent on the front lawn stocked with a sampling of the available materials.

COMPUTER HELP  Need help writing electronic documents, navigating the internet, or using your new eReader?  We can help.  Our next drop-in instructional session will be next Tuesday the 28th from 6 PM – 7 PM.  Call ahead for an appointment or just bring in your questions.

AUTHOR VISIT  Local author Maggie Mitchell will be at the library next Thursday, July 30th, at 6 PM to read from and discuss her recently-released debut adult thriller Pretty Is.  Copies will be available for sale and signing at the event.

WRITE A COMIC BOOK  In less than two weeks we’ll kick off August’s comic book creation competition for ages 12 – 18.  The first workshop will be on August 1st at 1 PM.  Come in to learn the basics of comic books writing – there’s more to the process than just drawing!  You can also brainstorm ideas with other teens and get feedback on your plans.  There will other sessions on the three following Thursdays – the 7th, 14th, and 21st at 2 PM.  Younger children can participate in a separate contest by creating their own superhero.  Pick up an entry form on the Summer Reading table by the prizes.

MUSIC AND MOVEMENT Toddlers are invited to shake out their sillies every Tuesday at 10 AM. We’ll have music in the air, instruments to play along, parachutes to hide under, and more. Meet other area families and come dance with us!

STORY TIME Every Wednesday at 10:30 AM we share a picture book (or two) and do a simple craft.  This week’s theme is cats, and we might just have a special furry visitor.  All children ages 3 – 6 are welcome.

JUST ARRIVED  Looking for a good read about history?  We have several new books for you.  Check out Vendetta, about the legal battles between Robert Kennedy and Jimmy Hoffa, Trials of Passion, about crimes involving love of one sort or another, or Gumption, a book of mini-biographies of famous Americans.  Looking for something more recent, or thinking about changing your lifestyle?  For tips on self-sufficiency and growing your own food, read Woman-Powered Farm and learn about the challenges a modern farmer could face.

We welcome your QUESTIONS, COMMENTS, CONCERNS, PURCHASE REQUESTS, AND PROGRAMMING IDEAS.  Contact us at 312 Washington Street, ogdlib@ncls.org, 393-4325, or any of our social media sites (you can do a search for Ogdensburg Public Library, or find the links on our website.)
