NEW DISPLAY  Are you disappointed that the Bassmaster Tournament is over?  Miss the fish?  Then stop by the library: we have a new display of vintage fishing lures, poles, and more.  These unique and functional collectables come from a variety of sources.  The long cabinet features the collection of Shannon Demers, while the lures in the circular cabinet are on loan from Bob Bowman, Thomas Murray, and Dean Marshall.  As always, we have plenty of books about fishing for you to check out if the display inspires you.

SOCIAL HOUR  Our next social hour is tomorrow (Wednesday) the 12th, at 1 PM.  Stop by to talk to your neighbors, drink coffee, and munch on treats.

FIREFIGHTERS AND ICE CREAM  Come down to the library this Saturday, August 15, at 11 AM for fire safety tips from the Ogdensburg Fire Department.  Afterwards, stick around and spoil your lunch with a delicious ice cream sundae.

EVIL LEAGUE TRYOUTS  Calling all villains!  Come to the library on Saturday, August 22nd, and join your fellow evil-doers in a plot to take over Ogdensburg.  The super-secret meeting starts at 11 AM.

COMIC BOOK/HERO CONTEST  Workshop and brainstorming sessions continue this month on Fridays at 2 PM.  Entries for both teens (write a five-page comic book) and children (design your own superhero) will be due on August 31st.

MUSIC AND MOVEMENT Toddlers are invited to shake out their sillies every Tuesday at 10 AM. We’ll have music in the air, instruments to play along, parachutes to hide under, and more. Meet other area families and come dance with us!

STORY TIME Every Wednesday at 10:30 AM we share a picture book (or two) and do a simple craft.  This week’s theme is ninjas.  All children ages 3 – 6 are welcome.

JUST ARRIVED  We’ve added new releases by many of your favorite authors this week.  We have the latest from novelists like Rhys Bowen (Malice at the Palace,) C. J. Box (Badlands,) Mary Higgins Clark (The Melody Lingers On,) Stuart Woods (Naked Greed,) Brad Thor (Code of Conduct,) W. E. B. Griffin (Deadly Assets,) and James Patterson (both Alert and Truth or Die.)  If you’re in the mood for something new, we can provide that as well.  Check out the critically acclaimed Kitchens of the Great Midwest for the story of a woman who inherited a love for food from both of her parents, try Chasing the Sun for a fictionalized account of the life of a brave aviatrix and horsewoman from the 1920s, or travel across the universe and back with a new collection of science fiction stories titled Sisters of the Revolution.
