EVIL LEAGUE TRYOUTS  Calling all villains!  Come to the library this Saturday, August 22nd, prove yourself worthy, and join your fellow evil-doers in a plot to take over Ogdensburg.  The super-secret meeting starts at 11 AM.

ADULT READING CONTEST  This is the last week to enter our “Escape the Ordinary” drawing.  To enter, just write the name of a book you’ve read this summer on a balloon and give it to a staff member.  You could win a New York Mets backpack-cooler, a folding camp chair, or a $20 gift certificate to The Sandwich Warehouse on Canton Street.  Don’t delay – balloons must be submitted by Saturday the 22nd at 3 PM!

CHILDREN’S READING RAFFLE  Have your children been keeping track of their reading online or on paper?  Remind them that Summer Reading ends on the last day of August.  If they want a chance to win one of our five big prizes (or if they just want something small from the prize barrel) they need to come in by Monday the 31st.

COMIC BOOK/HERO CONTEST  There are just two more workshops left for our comic book and superhero design contests.  Come in Friday the 21st or Friday the 28th at 2 PM.  Entries will be due on August 31st before 8 PM.

COMPUTER HELP  Need help creating electronic documents, navigating the internet, or using your new eReader?  We can help.  Drop in next Tuesday the 25th from 6 – 7 or the following Saturday the 29th from 11 AM – 12 PM.  Call ahead for an appointment or just bring in your questions.

MUSIC AND MOVEMENT Toddlers are invited to shake out their sillies every Tuesday at 10 AM. We’ll have music in the air, instruments to play along, parachutes to hide under, and more. Meet other area families and come dance with us!

STORY TIME Every Wednesday at 10:30 AM we share a picture book (or two) and do a simple craft.  This week’s theme is alligators and crocodiles.  Chomp chomp!  All children ages 3 – 6 are welcome.

JUST ARRIVED  Searching for a new hobby, new patterns for a current hobby, or inspiration?  Check out our New Book shelves.  Experienced artists can start taking steps towards a hyperrealistic style in The Reality Challenge, while anyone with a pair of scissors and some glue can work on the projects in Beautiful Paper Cutting.  Those who prefer to craft with hooks can follow the projects in Quick Crocheted Accessories, while quilters can draw on The Modern Medallion Workbook.  Finally, if you’re looking for a fresh take on an old art, try The Big Book of Mod Podge for plenty of ways to decoupage.

We welcome your QUESTIONS, COMMENTS, CONCERNS, PURCHASE REQUESTS, AND PROGRAMMING IDEAS.  Contact us at 312 Washington Street, ogdlib@ncls.org, 393-4325, or any of our social media sites (you can do a search for Ogdensburg Public Library, or find the links on our website.)

SUMMER HOURS are 9 AM to 8 PM Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, 9 AM to 5 PM Wednesday and Friday, and 9 AM to 3 PM on Saturday.  We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you at your library!
