STAR WARS Celebrate Star Wars Reads Day with us on Saturday, October 10th. We’ll have crafts, games, and – of course – books. Prepare for the new movie, learn the ways of the Force, and defeat bad guys. Activities begin at 2 PM, but you can start reading any time.
CONSTRUCTION Thank you to the City for removing and repaving our handicapped parking space. The new surface should last for years to come and provide better access to the new lift when it is installed.
COMPUTER HELP Need help with your eReader, the Internet, or Microsoft Office? We hold drop-in computer instruction sessions four times a month. Come by this Saturday (the 3rd) from 11 – 12 or next Tuesday (October 6th) from 6 – 7. Call ahead for an appointment or just bring your questions.
SOCIAL HOUR Our monthly gathering of coffee, treats, and conversation will be next week on Wednesday the 14th at 2 PM. Take a break from the Fall weather to warm your body and your mind.
ADULT CRAFT On October 19th we’ll make rustic pumpkins out of things that you probably have around your house. Check our website later this week for the time. Ideas, suggestions, and volunteers for future crafts are welcomed.
HALLOWEEN Our children’s Halloween Party will be on Thursday, October 29th, starting at 5 PM. Show off your costume, trick-or-treat a few days early, and paint a pumpkin!
MUSIC AND MOVEMENT Toddlers are invited to shake out their sillies every Tuesday at 10 AM. We’ll have music in the air, instruments to play along, parachutes to hide under, and more. Meet other area families and come dance with us!
STORY TIME Every Wednesday at 10:30 AM we share a picture book (or two) and do a simple craft. All children ages 3 – 6 are welcome.
JUST ARRIVED Explore two dark fairy tales in our new additions this week. Fates and Furies, by Lauren Groff, tells the tale of a long-term marriage that draws on ancient Greek drama. Patrick deWitt’s Undermajordomo Minor, meanwhile, takes a twisting turn on the familiar medieval landscape. For lovers of Westerns we have The Range War of ’82 by Ethan Wolfe, while Chris Holm’s The Killing Kind offers something for thriller fans. Other recent arrivals include the new novels by Jan Karon (Come Rain or Come Shine) and Kathy Reichs (Speaking in Bones.) Finally, for teens interested in manga, or anyone looking to work on their cartooning skills, we’ve added How to Draw Manga Boys and How to Draw Manga Girls
We welcome your QUESTIONS, COMMENTS, CONCERNS, PURCHASE REQUESTS, AND PROGRAMMING IDEAS. Contact us at 312 Washington Street, firstname.lastname@example.org, 393-4325, or through any of our social media sites (you can do a search for Ogdensburg Public Library, or find the links on our website.)
WEEKLY HOURS are 9 AM to 8 PM Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, 9 AM to 5 PM Wednesday and Friday, and 9 AM to 5 PM on Saturday. We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you at your library!
