WORD OF THE WEEK Burgeon: to grow rapidly, like a budding flower
RAFFLE The Friends of the Library are raffling off a twin-sized quilt featuring the characters of Angry Birds Star Wars. Tickets are $2 each or $3 for $5, and the drawing will be on July 23rd. The quilt is hanging up in the library foyer.
FAMILY BOOK CLUB Join us this Thursday the 29th at 5:30 PM to discuss Flora and Ulysses. We’ll be writing squirrelly poetry on classic typewriters.
LIBRARY HOLIDAY The library will be closed in celebration of Independence Day on Tuesday, July 4th.
JULY EVENTS Children’s Summer Reading kicks into high gear next month with a stack of building-themed programs. Use your brain and Lego bricks to solve problems on Thursday July 6th at 2 PM (ages 6 and up,) or stop in next Saturday the 8th at 2 PM to make pet toys for the animals at the SPCA (all ages.) Have fun dropping pompoms on Thursday the 20th at 2 PM (ages 5 and up,) or construct a pig house that’s bad-wolf-resistant on the 27th at 2 PM (ages 5 – 9.) Musician Tom Seiling will be back on Saturday the 22nd at 2 PM for a family concert. MOOD (Music on the Oswegatchie Delta) will be hosting free concerts in Library Park on the 6th and 19th. In keeping with the creative spirit, Seaway House is putting on an art show in the library spanning the first and second floors from the 5th to the 14th, and the celebrations will also include a concert. The Friends of the Library will be joining the Remington’s BBQ celebrations with a fundraising Funfest in the Park on July 23rd from 11 AM – 2 PM. We’ll have our regular monthly programs, too. Social Hour is on the 12th, while Movie Night is a week early on the 13th. A craft session for adults will also take place on the 13th, at 2 PM. Drop-in computer help will be on the 1st, 15th, and 25th. Finally, the Friends’ book sale will take place from the 20th through the 28th, so don’t miss a week of fantastic bargains.
REGULAR PROGRAMS Music and Movement for toddlers is Tuesday at 10 AM. Story Time for ages 3 – 6, with picture books and crafts, is on Wednesday and Saturday at 10:30 AM. Drop-in computer help hour will be held Tuesday the 27th from 6 – 7 PM and next Saturday the 1st from 11 AM – 12 PM, so bring in your computer questions for some one-on-one help.
