AUTHOR VISIT Make time to meet local author Glenn S. Guiles this Saturday, June 20th, at 2 PM. Mr. Guiles has written two picture books about Harriet the miniature donkey: A Hug for Harriet and Harriet’s Big Adventure. Come hear these two charming stories read aloud by the man who wrote them, and learn how he was inspired to create his characters.
SUMMER READING Children can now sign up for summer reading. Visit our website for a link to register online. (They will need a parent or guardian’s email.) Once they’ve registered, they can track their books, earn points for prizes, design their own superheroes, and participate in fun activities. Those without computer access can participate using paper reading logs (available at the desk) and will be eligible for the same rewards and raffle tickets. We’ll have a full schedule of superhero (and supervillain) themed programming in July and August. Don’t miss it!
COMPUTER HELP Need help using your eReader, creating a digital document, or getting online? Our next one-on-one sessions are this Saturday, the 20th, from 11 – 12 and next Tuesday, the 23rd, from 6 – 7. Call the library for an appointment or just drop in.
MUSIC AND MOVEMENT Toddlers are invited to shake out their sillies every Tuesday at 10 AM. We’ll have music in the air, instruments to play along, parachutes to hide under, and more. Meet other area families and come dance with us!
STORY TIME Every Wednesday at 10:30 AM we share a picture book (or two) and do a simple craft. All children ages 3 – 6 are welcome.
MUSEUM PASS Our discount pass for the Adirondack Museum in Blue Mountain Lake is available for weekday or weekend checkout. Stop in to see our display or call the library for more details.
JUST ARRIVED Thriller is the name of the game in this week’s new adult fiction. We have half a dozen new tales of mystery and spycraft for your enjoyment, including Ace Atkin’s latest Spencer book (Kickback) and Stephen King’s follow up to Mr. Mercedes (Finders Keepers.) Stephen Hunter has written a book about Jack the Ripper, while Nelson DeMille and Clive Cussler also have new novels out this month. Finally, murder strikes a group of Civil War reenactors in The Final Reveille. In the children’s room we’ve added a new picture book based on the true story of a boy whose stutter led him to bond with the animals at a local zoo and eventually speak out confidently on their behalf. Remember, you can always visit our website to see the books and DVDs we’ve just added as well as those that will be here soon. Please check it out and give us feedback!
We welcome your QUESTIONS, COMMENTS, CONCERNS, PURCHASE REQUESTS, AND PROGRAMMING IDEAS. Contact us at 312 Washington Street, firstname.lastname@example.org, 393-4325, or any of our social media sites (you can do a search for Ogdensburg Public Library, or find the links on our website.)
WEEKLY HOURS are 9 AM to 8 PM Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, and 9 AM to 5 PM Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you at your library!
