ROCKETS!  Children can come to the library this Saturday, the 11th, and learn about rocketry from Edge on Science.  We will be creating and safely launching our own rockets during this program, so it is for ages 7 and up.

ADULT SUMMER READING  Read any good books lately?  Stop by the library and fill out a paper hot air balloon to recommend them to your friends and neighbors.  By doing so, you’ll be entered in an end-of summer drawing for one of at least three prizes.  If you’re looking for a good read, explore the titles posted on the bulletin board and take a chance on discovering something new.

BOOK SALE  Our book sale starts next Thursday, the 16th, at 5 PM.  We have some great deals on books, DVDs, sewing patterns, records, and more.  Stop in any time the library is open from that Thursday until Friday the 24th.  There will be no bag sale this year, so don’t delay!

COMPUTER HELP  Have computer or eReader questions?  We have answers.  Drop in to our open workshop tonight (the 7th) from 6 – 7 PM.  The next session will be on Saturday the 18th from 11 AM – 12 PM.

SOCIAL HOUR  Our next social hour is tomorrow (Wednesday) the 8th, at 1 PM.  Stop by to talk to your neighbors, drink coffee, and munch on treats.

MUSIC AND MOVEMENT Toddlers are invited to shake out their sillies every Tuesday at 10 AM. We’ll have music in the air, instruments to play along, parachutes to hide under, and more. Meet other area families and come dance with us!

STORY TIME Every Wednesday at 10:30 AM we share a picture book (or two) and do a simple craft.  This week’s theme is art with chickens.  All children ages 3 – 6 are welcome.

JUST ARRIVED  Looking for some true-life thrills?  Search for sunken treasure in Pirate Hunters or track down Bigfoot with Monster Hunters.  If you have children who love to ask questions in your life, help inspire them – and yourself – with the story of Taylor Wilson, The Boy Who Played with Fusion.  Young children can learn how one girl managed to convince her family to give her a giraffe in the picture book One Word from Sophia, or follow the training and adventures of Ninja Bunny.  Older children can read a new biography of Jane Goodall from National Geographic, titled Untamed.  In the young adult section, we’ve added a number of new graphic novels.  Check out “traditional” heroes like Batman and Batgirl, take a peek at the new Ms. Marvel, or start a new manga series with Wandering Son and The Devil is a Part-Timer.

We welcome your QUESTIONS, COMMENTS, CONCERNS, PURCHASE REQUESTS, AND PROGRAMMING IDEAS.  Contact us at 312 Washington Street, ogdlib@ncls.org, 393-4325, or any of our social media sites (you can do a search for Ogdensburg Public Library, or find the links on our website.)

SUMMER HOURS are 9 AM to 8 PM Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, 9 AM to 5 PM Wednesday and Friday, and 9 AM to 3 PM on Saturday.  We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you at your library!
