LYME DISEASE  The library is hosting a screening of the award-winning documentary Under Our Skin, tracing the stories of several people who contracted Lyme Disease and their struggle for treatment.  It might be of interest to hunters, gardeners, campers, or anyone who ventures outdoors and will begin at 6 PM this Thursday, August 6th.

COMPUTER HELP  Need help writing electronic documents, navigating the internet, or using your new eReader?  We can help.  Drop in tonight (the 4th) from 6 PM – 7 PM or on Saturday the 15th from 11 AM – 12 PM.  Call ahead for an appointment or just bring in your questions.

WRITE A COMIC BOOK  Come to the first workshop session for this teen summer reading contest on Friday the 7th at 2 PM.  This was advertised as a Thursday in a previous column, while the dates were correct.  We apologize for any confusion.

ADIRONDACK MUSEUM  Looking for a fun day or overnight trip?  Don’t forget about the Adirondack Museum pass, available here courtesy of the Friends of the Library.  It will give you half off admissions for three adults plus children, and can be checked out for free for two days.  Call the library or drop in for more details.

BOOK SALE  Thank you to everyone who participated in our book sale, both volunteers and book buyers.  Your efforts helped raise money to support library programming in the year to come.  Look for an announcement of a date for our next book sale after school starts.

MUSIC AND MOVEMENT Toddlers are invited to shake out their sillies every Tuesday at 10 AM. We’ll have music in the air, instruments to play along, parachutes to hide under, and more. Meet other area families and come dance with us!

STORY TIME Every Wednesday at 10:30 AM we share a picture book (or two) and do a simple craft.  This week’s theme is ponies.  All children ages 3 – 6 are welcome.

JUST ARRIVED  Additions to our children’s and teens’ collection have flooded in recently.  If your young child loves animals, we have quite a collection for them to read.  From the friendly advice of If You Ever Want to Bring an Alligator to School, Don’t, to the chaotic There’s a Lion in My Cornflakes, to the educational I Am Trying to Love Spiders, we have critters for everyone.  In chapter books, head to school with Dory and the Real True Friend and Jedi Academy: The Phantom Bully, visit a strange town in Woundabout, or ride to the rescue with four princes in The Hero’s Guide to Storming the Castle.  For teens we have Daniel José Older’s magical Shadowshaper and Jessica Day George’s Romanian-set Silver in the Blood, plus a number of new graphic novels.  Check out Deadpool & Cable Ultimate Collection Book 3, Gotham Academy Volume 1, The Devil is a Part-Timer Volume 2, and Wandering Son Volumes 6 & 7.

We welcome your QUESTIONS, COMMENTS, CONCERNS, PURCHASE REQUESTS, AND PROGRAMMING IDEAS.  Contact us at 312 Washington Street, ogdlib@ncls.org, 393-4325, or any of our social media sites (you can do a search for Ogdensburg Public Library, or find the links on our website.)
