NEW DISPLAY This month, we’re featuring pictures from the Standard Shade Roller plant, which operated in Ogdensburg under the Joanna-Western Mills and Crown Home Furnishing Companies. The photos feature production lines, parties and employees. Why not stop in to see if you recognize anyone? You may even spot yourself.
MOVIE NIGHT Why not “wrap up” your day with a spooky movie at the library? Come in October 15th at 5:30 PM for popcorn and a villain who’s coming unraveled.
COMPUTER HELP Need help with your eReader, the Internet, or Microsoft Office? We hold drop-in computer instruction sessions four times a month. Come by tonight (October 6th) from 6 – 7. Call ahead for an appointment or just bring your questions.
STAR WARS Celebrate Star Wars Reads Day with us this Saturday, October 10th. We’ll have crafts, games, and – of course – books. Prepare for the new movie, learn the ways of the Force, defeat bad guys, and win a prize. Activities begin at 2 PM.
SOCIAL HOUR Our monthly gathering of coffee, treats, and conversation will be next week on Wednesday the 14th at 2 PM. Take a break from the Fall weather to warm your body and your mind.
ADULT CRAFT On October 19th at 11 AM we’ll make rustic pumpkins out of things that you probably have around your house. Ideas, suggestions, and volunteers for future programming are always welcomed.
TEEN CRAFT Ever wanted your own container of spiders, snakes, or eyeballs? Stop in to make creepy specimen jars on Saturday, October 24th at 1:30 PM.
MUSIC AND MOVEMENT Toddlers are invited to shake out their sillies every Tuesday at 10 AM. We’ll have music in the air, instruments to play along, parachutes to hide under, and more. Meet other area families and come dance with us!
STORY TIME Every Wednesday at 10:30 AM we share a picture book (or two) and do a simple craft. This week’s theme is llamas. All children ages 3 – 6 are welcome.
JUST ARRIVED Get Fall rolling with one of our latest picture books. From Apple Trees to Cider Please takes children on a trip to an apple orchard, explaining how cider is made along the way. For middle-grade readers, we’ve added a number of new novels. Read about a boy who mysteriously turns green in The Astounding Broccoli Boy, or pick up A Nearer Moon to learn about a girl who battles a river’s curse. For children who prefer more realistic fiction, try After the Ashes, set during the 1883 eruption of Krakatoa, or Full Cicada Moon, which features a biracial girl trying to find her place in the Vermont of 1969.
We welcome your QUESTIONS, COMMENTS, CONCERNS, PURCHASE REQUESTS, AND PROGRAMMING IDEAS. Contact us at 312 Washington Street, email@example.com, 393-4325, or through any of our social media sites (you can do a search for Ogdensburg Public Library, or find the links on our website.)
WEEKLY HOURS are 9 AM to 8 PM Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, 9 AM to 5 PM Wednesday and Friday, and 9 AM to 5 PM on Saturday. The library will be closed next Monday, October 12th. We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you at your library!
