Magnification

The library now has a state-funded Enhanced Vision HD magnifier designed to help patrons with visual impairments.  It is set up near the public-access computers.  Stop in to check it out or ask at the desk for a demonstration.

MOVIE NIGHT  Join us for a wintery Seussian tale this Thursday the 21st at 5:30 PM.  We’ll provide free popcorn and drinks, courtesy of the Friends of the Library.

 

FAMILY BOOK CLUB  We’ll be discussing the book Unusual Chickens for the Exceptional Poultry Farmer and designing our own fancy fowls next Thursday the 28th at 5 PM.

 

REGULAR PROGRAMS  Music and Movement for toddlers is Tuesday at 10 AM.  Stories and Songs, for ages 2 – 4, is on Saturdays at 10:30 AM.  Call the library or check online for all of the details on all of our upcoming events.

SCAVENGER HUNT  Children can help us track down a misbehaving leprechaun this Saturday the 16th at 1 PM.  We’ll have games and green eats for the lucky detectives.

 

SOCIAL HOUR  Join us for coffee, treats, and conversation this Wednesday the 13th at 2 PM.

 

ADULT CRAFT  In honor of the approaching Spring we’ll be making a floral craft this Thursday the 14th at 2 PM.

LEATHER BRACELETS  Children ages seven and up can make braided leather bracelets this Thursday the 7th at 4 PM.  All materials are provided by the Friends of the Library.

FAMILY BOOK CLUB  Our selection this month is Fairy Tale Comics, edited by Chris Duffy.  We’ll be discussing the book and fracturing some fairy tales of our own this Thursday the 28th at 5 PM.  New members are always welcome.

 

MARCH EVENTS  Children ages 7 and up can make braided leather bracelets next Thursday the 7th at 4 PM.  Social Hour will be Wednesday the 13th and the adult craft on Thursday the 14th, both at 2 PM.  Our St. Patrick’s Day Scavenger Hunt will be Saturday the 16th at 1 PM.  Movie Night, featuring a recent Dr. Seuss film, will be Thursday the 21st at 5:30 PM.  March’s Family Book Club selection is Unusual Chickens for the Exceptional Poultry Farmer by Kelly Jones.  We’ll be discussing it and designing our own chickens on Thursday the 28th at 5 PM.  Drop-in computer help sessions (you bring your questions about computer use, and we’ll help you find answers) will be on Saturdays the 2nd and 16th from 11 AM – 12 PM and Tuesdays the 5th and 26th from 6 – 7 PM.

ADIRONDACK RAPTORS  Some special feathered guests will be dropping into the library this Wednesday the 20th at 2 PM.  Take a break from your school break and come see them.

SWEETHEART SOIREE This is your last chance to purchase tickets to the Friends of the Library’s romantic bash this Saturday the 9th from 7 PM to 11 PM in the Rosseel Ballroom. There will be music and dancing, a dessert buffet and cash bar, a silent auction, door prizes, and a photo booth. Come solo or as a couple; tickets are $15 for members of the Friends and $20 for members of the general public. If you want dinner before the party, the Blind Pig Bistro on Ford Street will offer a discounted meal, including soup, salad, and entrée, for all ticket holders. Simply bring your ticket to their location this Saturday and enjoy. Please join us for an evening of fun to benefit the Friends and the library.

FAMILY BOOK CLUB  Discuss Madeleine L’Engle’s A Wrinkle in Time and build your own model tesseract this Thursday the 31st at 5 PM.  New members are always welcome.

 

FEBRUARY EVENTS  Children ages 7 and up can make lizards out of pony beads on Friday February 15th at 4 PM.  On Wednesday the 20th at 2 PM some live large birds of prey will be visiting the library courtesy of Adirondack Raptors.  Movie Night on the 21st will feature the sequel to a popular kid’s horror film.  Read and discuss Fairy Tale Comics (edited by Chris Duffy) for February’s Family Book Club, meeting on the 28th.  Social Hour is the afternoon of the 13th, while computer help sessions will be the 2nd, 5th, 16th, and 26th, and the adult crafting session is on the 14th.  Finally, don’t forget the Friends of the Library are hosting a Sweetheart Soirée on Saturday, February 9th from 7 PM to 11 PM in the Rosseel Ballroom at the library.  Tickets are available at the library for $20 per person, with a $5 discount for members of the Friends.

POMPOM BOOMMARKS  Children ages 7 and up can stop in to make a fun bookmark with pompoms this Thursday the 24th at 4 PM.

 

SWEETHEART SOIREE  The Friends of the Ogdensburg Public Library cordially invite you to a Sweetheart Soirée on Saturday, February 9th from 7 PM to 11 PM in the Rosseel Ballroom at the library.  Come as a couple or come alone; there will be live music and dancing, a dessert buffet, silent auction, raffle, cash bar, and more.  Tickets are available at the library for $20 per person – or $15 if you are a member of the Friends.  On the night of the soirée The Blind Pig will also give all ticket holders a special three-course meal for $20, including soup, salad, and entrée, at their location on Ford Street.  Tickets are limited, so stop in to purchase yours today.
