FAMILY BOOK CLUB This Thursday the 30th at 5 PM we’ll be discussing Roald Dahl’s Matilda and, since we can’t move things with our minds, trying to move things with magnets instead.  Curious new families are always welcome.

 

 

 

 

 

 

JUNE EVENTS  Children ages 7 and up can make a pinwheel on Wednesday the 12th at 4 PM, and children ages 5 and up can bring their own item of clothing to tie-dye on Saturday the 22nd at 1 PM (in the park, weather permitting.)  Movie Night, featuring everyone’s favorite plastic building blocks, will be Thursday the 20th at 5:30 PM.  Our Family Book Club selection for June is Roller Girl by Victoria Jamieson.  We’ll be making t-shirts and inventing our own roller derby names on Thursday the 27th at 5 PM – new families are always welcome.  For adults, we’re making book-page roses on Thursday the 13th at 2 PM and holding Social Hour on the preceding Wednesday the 12th also at 2 PM.  Drop-in computer help will be on Saturdays the 1st and 15th from 11 AM – 12 PM and Tuesday the 25th at 6 PM.

 

SUMMER READING  Sign-ups start this week.  Drop into the library to pick up a reading log and check out the awesome prizes we have for toddlers through teenagers.  This year’s theme is A Universe of Stories, so look for fun space-themed programming in July and August.

THANK YOU  We would like to thank all the Friends of the Library and members of the public who helped make the spring book sale a success.  Look for a special sale of children’s books this summer.  The next full book sale will be in the fall.

 

ORIGAMI FROGS  Children ages 6 and up can come learn to make hopping origami (folded paper) frogs this Thursday the 23rd at 5 PM.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

LIBRARY CLOSED  The library will be closed next Monday the 27th in honor of Memorial Day.

Author Visit

BOOK SALE  The book sale will continue this week during the library’s regular hours.  There are still plenty of books, DVDs, puzzles, and more available at great deals.  We’ll close out with a $5 bag sale on Saturday.  Come find new reads and support the Friends of the Library.

 

MOVIE NIGHT  Join us this Thursday the 16th at 5:30 PM for a family-friendly film about a dog trying to find her way back to her owner.  We’ll have popcorn and refreshments for all.

 

REGULAR PROGRAMS  Music and Movement for toddlers is Tuesday at 10 AM.  Stories and Songs, for ages 2 – 4, is on Saturdays at 10 AM.  Drop-in computer help will be this Saturday the 18th from 11 AM – 12 PM.  Call the library or check online for all of the details on all of our upcoming events.

BOOK SALE  It’s almost here!  Doors open at 5 PM on Thursday the 9th, and the sale will continue through the library’s regular hours until 3 PM Saturday the 18th.  Hardcover books will be $3, paperbacks $1, and children’s books 50 cents.  DVDs will go for $2 each, and CDs for $1, while puzzles with also be $1 and magazines 10 cents each.  Members of the Friends of the Library will receive half off their purchases from the 9th through the 17th (excluding any special-priced items,) and memberships will be available on the spot.  There will be a bag sale on Saturday the 18th, with bags supplied by the library and priced at $5 for as much as they will hold.  Stop in to pick up something new-to-you and help the Friends support library programming throughout the year.  Follow our Facebook pages for updates.

 

SOCIAL HOUR  Join us for coffee, treats, and conversation this Wednesday the 8th at 2 PM.

 

 

 

 

 

 

ADULT CRAFT  Paint wine glasses to look like tulips and celebrate spring this Thursday the 9th at 2 PM.

 

 

 

 

 

 

DISPLAY  Stop in to the library to see part of the Dr. Mary Bryan  collection on display this month.  Dr. Bryan  was a groundbreaking physician in the United States and India in the late 1800s, and her collection includes many objects from her time abroad.  She was born in Lisbon and spent the later years of her life as a general practitioner in Ogdensburg.

FAMILY BOOK CLUB  Talk about E. B. White’s beloved children’s classic Charlotte’s Web and learn to crochet this Thursday the 25th at 5 PM.  New families are always welcome.

 

BOOK SALE  Please join the Friends of the Library for their Spring Book Sale from the evening of May 9th through the 18th.  Proceeds fund library programming and other purchases throughout the year.  Further details on the sale will follow.

 

MAY PROGRAMS  Social Hour returns to the second Wednesday of the month at 2 PM, and we’ll be having the Adult Craft – tulip painted glasses – on Thursday the 9th at 2 PM.  Movie Night, featuring a dogged film, will be Thursday the 16th at 5:30 PM.  Children can make and race origami frogs on Thursday the 23rd at 5 PM, and Family Book Club will meet to discuss Roald Dahl’s Matilda on Thursday the 30th at 5 PM.  Computer Help Drop-In hours will be on Saturdays the 4th and 18th from 11 AM – 12 PM and Tuesdays the 7th and 28th from 6 – 7 PM.  The library will be closed on Monday the 27th in honor of Memorial Day.

Egg Hunt

Thank you to everyone who came to clean up Library Park. You helped us have a safer, better Egg Hunt! Thank you to everyone who came to the Egg Hunt or shared the posters! While I try to get to everyone who asks questions, having you pass along what you find out from us helps greatly! Thank you to the volunteers who showed up to help out! Thank you especially to any parents and/or kids who shared or helped other kids find eggs and have a good day! You made this day amazing and helped grow our community a little better!

EGG HUNT Come play games in the library and hunt hundreds of colorful candy-filled eggs in the park this Saturday the 20th at 11 AM.

 

MOVIE NIGHT By request we’re hosting movie night on Tuesday this month, so join us tonight the 16th at 5:30 PM for refreshments and the latest animated arachnid-man film.

 

EARLY CLOSING The library will be closing at noon this Friday the 19th.
