WEEKLY QUOTE Even winter – the hardest season, the most implacable – dreams, as February creeps on, of the flame that will presently melt it away. Everything tires with time, and starts to seek some opposition, to save it from itself. – Clive Barker, author
FEBRUARY BIRTHDAYS Stop into the library to celebrate with the likes of Margaret Truman, Victor Hugo, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Ayn Rand, and Berthold Brecht. Our birthday display for February is up next to the new books. You’re sure to find something there new to you.
SOCIAL HOUR Stop in for coffee, cookies and conversation tomorrow the 10th from 2 – 3 PM.
WEEKLY QUOTE I love any excuse to come to New York - when it's not February. – K. A. Applegate, children and young adult author
TAX FORMS Federal and state forms and instructions have arrived. (The exception, the Federal 1040s, were sent to us last week and should be here shortly.) Due to new regulations we will not receive any more shipments this year, so do not delay your trip in to pick them up. Forms we do not have on paper or that have run out can be printed out at home or at the library for a small fee. Library staff cannot offer tax advice. The St. Lawrence County Office for the Aging is offering free classes on Thursdays from 9 AM – 1 PM at the Rescue Squad building on Pickering Street.
WATCH OUT FOR BIRDS Let us help you kick off the winter break this month. Come to the library on Saturday the 13th at 11 AM to learn about local kinds of birds and make your own birdfeeder to hang in your yard or from your porch. This project will involve the use of peanut butter, nuts, and seeds.
