BOOK SALE The Friends of the Library Fall book sale continues this week during the library’s open hours from today the 8th through Thursday the 10th. The concluding $4 bag sale will be from 9 AM – 5 PM on Saturday the 12th. Drop by at your convenience for great deals on books, DVDs, CDs, and more.

RAFFLE The Friends of the Library are raffling off a beautiful hand-painted chair featuring a view of the St. Lawrence River and the slogan “There’s no place like home.” Pictures are available on our website and Facebook page, and the chair is on display at the library. Tickets are 1 for $1, 3 for $2 and 15 for $5. The raffle ends this Friday, so hurry in for your chance to win.

PJs 4 XMAS The library is playing host to a PJs 4 Xmas donation box this year. Please feel free to drop off new children’s pajamas and support this great local cause.
CHRISTMAS CARDS A number of Christmas cards are laid out on the table to the left of the reading area. These will be sent to residents of nursing homes in Ogdensburg. Please take a moment to add your well-wishes and thoughts of holiday cheer to these cards – you can write in one or in all of them.

AUTHOR BIRTHDAYS November is packed with falling leaves, recipes for turkey, and authors’ birthdays. Among those born this month: Bram Stoker, author of Dracula; Mark Twain; Narnia author and Christian writer C. S. Lewis; poet and artist William Blake; Neil Gaiman; Carl Sagan; Madeleine L’Engle; Kurt Vonnegut; and Rita Mae Brown. Come take a book or two from the display and read them with a piece of cake in the author’s honor.
LIBRARY BUDGET Thank you for all of your supportive letters and e-mails. As a reminder, the City Council meets next Monday, the 16th, at 7 PM to vote on the library’s budget. Please consider attending that meeting to speak out for the library and against funding cuts. We appreciate your help.
BOOK SALE The Friends of the Library book sale is almost here. From Thursday at 6 PM through Saturday, they will be selling books, CDs, DVDs and more upstairs in the auditorium. There are plenty of great deals, so make time to stop in.
THANKSGIVING CRAFTS Our Gratitude Garland will be hanging around the library again this month. All through November, drop in with your child and fill out a leaf to add to the display. If you would like a take-home variation, our adult craft this month is a Thankfulness Tree. Making it takes just a few minutes, and you can ask friends and family to add their thankful thoughts. Stop in next Monday, November 9th, between 2 and 3:30.
LIBRARY BUDGET The City Council meets on Monday, November 16th, at 7 PM to vote on departmental budgets for 2016. The library is facing a potential cut in our funding which would result in reduced services. If you enjoy using any of our programs, materials, computers, or other resources, please consider attending the meeting or writing a brief note to support us. These can be submitted at the library or electronically through email or our social media sites. We appreciate your help.
