SUMMER HOURS  This summer Saturday hours will switch to 9 – 3. As the building will be closed on Saturday, July 4th for Independence Day, this summer schedule will start the following week (the 11th) and continue until Labor Day.

AUTHOR BIRTHDAYS  Celebrate the end of Spring and the beginning of Summer with some authors born in June and July.  In the children’s section we have Walter Farley (writer of The Black Stallion and its sequels) and Maurice Sendak for June, and Beatrix Potter and EB White for July.  A number of literary ladies who helped change the way we look at the world were born this month, including Harriet Beecher Stowe, Helen Keller, and Anne Frank.  J.K. Rowling, like her most famous creation, was born in July, as were Ernest Hemingway, Raymond Chandler, and Cormac McCarthy.  Check out these authors and more in our birthday display next to the new books, and maybe have a slice of cake with ice cream in their honor.

BOOK SALE  The Friends of the Library will be holding their next book sale on July 16, 17, and 18.  Look for more details shortly in this paper and online.
