WRITER OF THE WEEK  Barbara Tuchman, born January 30th, was a Pulitzer-Prize-winning journalist and author of popular histories.  She was also the creator of “Tuchman’s Law,” which states that “The fact of being reported multiplies the apparent extent of any deplorable development by five to tenfold,” or: because bad things are reported on most frequently, they generally appear to be more common than they actually are.

FEBRUARY PROGRAMS  Our adult craft falls early next month, on Thursday the 8th at 2 PM.  We’ll be making paper roses.  Social Hour follows the next Wednesday, the 14th, also at 2 PM.  The next day, Thursday the 15th, we’ll be holding a relaxing adult coloring circle at 2 PM, with all materials provided.  Our drop-in computer help sessions will be on Tuesdays the 6th and 27th from 6 – 7 PM and Saturdays the 3rd and 17th from 11 AM – 12 PM.  Children’s programs begin on Tuesday the 13th, when we’ll have materials available for crafting handmade Valentines from 3:30 – 4:30 PM.  Movie Night is on the 15th at 5:30 PM: come watch a film featuring small colorful horses.  Finally, we have a very special family book club for February.  Our featured book is Call of the Wild.  The regular meeting is at 4:30 PM on Thursday the 22nd.  Following that, you’ll have the opportunity to meet a real-life Iditarod veteran and his dogs at 5 PM.  You are very welcome to come meet the musher and the dogs even if you haven’t read the book – the event is open to all.
