Superhero Training

Article 6/30/15

CHILDREN’S PROGRAMMING  As part of our summer reading program, we’ll be having a number of special events in July and August.  On July 11th we’ll be blasting off in an introduction to rocketry with Edge on Science; Fragile Planet wildlife center will return on July 27th; and we’ll be hosting an ice cream social with the Fire Department on August 15th.  Superhero training will be held on July 18th, but if villains are more your child’s style they can try out for the League of Evil on August 22.  For children and teens who have a creative side, in the month of August we’re holding a superhero creation contest (ages 5 – 11) and comic book writing contest (ages 12 – 18.)  Look for more details as the events approach (or check our website,) don’t forget to sign up for summer reading online or in person (we have prizes big and small,) and save the dates!

BOOK READING  Local author Maggie Mitchell will be visiting the library on July 30th at 6 PM to read from her debut thriller Pretty Is.  This novel, about two women who shared a terrifying experience as children, is on many of this summer’s must-read lists.  Copies will be available for sale and signing after the talk.

MUSIC AND MOVEMENT Toddlers are invited to shake out their sillies every Tuesday at 10 AM. We’ll have music in the air, instruments to play along, parachutes to hide under, and more. Meet other area families and come dance with us!
