Black History Month

WRITER OF THE WEEK  Alice Walker is most famous for her 1982 novel The Color Purple, adopted into both an acclaimed film and an award-winning musical, but she has written numerous other novels, poetry, short stories, and nonfiction.  The library has numerous examples of her work available.

BLIND DATE WITH A BOOK  Bored with your usual authors and want to try something new?  Enjoy being surprised?  Stop in this month and pick up a book or audiobook from our Valentine’s table.  You won’t know what you have until you get home and unwrap it (although there are brief descriptions on the wrapping.)  This year’s selections come from African-American authors in honor of Black History Month and cover a wide variety of genres, from science fiction to mystery to modern-day teen literature.

PAPER ROSES  Join us this Thursday the 8th at 2 PM for February’s adult crafting class.  We’ll be making roses out of old book pages – bring a friend and have fun!
