WEEKLY QUOTE “I see everything I paint in this world, but everybody does not see alike. To the eyes of a miser a guinea is more beautiful than the sun and a bag worn with the use of money has more beautiful proportions than a vine filled with grapes. The tree which moves some to tears of joy is in the eyes of others only a green thing that stands in the way.” – William Blake
LIBRARY CLOSED We will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday the 18th, for maintenance. We will re-open at 9 AM on Thursday, May 19th. The interior elevator will remain closed for repairs. Story Time is cancelled this week and will return on the 25th at 10:30 AM. We apologize for the inconvenience.
DISPLAY We have new antiques on display in our long and our tall cabinets. Jim Rupert has loaned us a portion of his collection of found objects. Come take a peek at the old bottles, clay pipes, coins, and more.
TURTLE TIME Stop in to meet the newest member of the library staff. Sophie Gertrude is a large red-eared slider, mostly likely at least twenty years old. She enjoys peace and quiet, basking under her heat lamp, and checking out visitors. Her aquarium is by the first-floor elevator, near the computers. While she doesn’t like to be touched by strangers, she would love to say hello through the glass.
TAX FORMS We have ordered 2015 tax forms, but they have not yet been printed or shipped. We will publish an announcement when they arrive. Please be aware that the government has limited the number and kind of forms they provide to libraries this year. We will not be receiving booklets from the federal government. Additionally, once our supply is gone we will not be able to order more. Forms and instructions will also be accessible and printable through the IRS and NYS Department of Taxation websites, or you can file electronically.
LIBRARY CLOSED The library will be closed this Saturday, July 25, so the parade can proceed. We hope you’re enjoying the Seaway Festival!
BOOK SALE The book sale will continue until Friday at 5 PM. There will be no bag sale this year. Make sure you stop by this week to stock up on books, DVDs, and more. Weather permitting, there will also be a tent on the front lawn stocked with a sampling of the available materials.
COMPUTER HELP Need help writing electronic documents, navigating the internet, or using your new eReader? We can help. Our next drop-in instructional session will be next Tuesday the 28th from 6 PM – 7 PM. Call ahead for an appointment or just bring in your questions.
AUTHOR VISIT Local author Maggie Mitchell will be at the library next Thursday, July 30th, at 6 PM to read from and discuss her recently-released debut adult thriller Pretty Is. Copies will be available for sale and signing at the event.
