LYME DISEASE The library is hosting a screening of the award-winning documentary Under Our Skin, tracing the stories of several people who contracted Lyme Disease and their struggle for treatment. WRITE A COMIC BOOK Come to the first workshop session for this teen summer reading contest on Friday the 7th at 2 PM. This was advertised as a Thursday in a previous column, while the dates were correct. We apologize for any confusion.
AUTHOR VISIT Local author Maggie Mitchell will be at the library this Thursday, July 30th, at 6 PM to read from and discuss her recently-released adult thriller Pretty Is. This debut novel tells the story of two women who were abducted as children, and what happened after they were rescued. It has been very well reviewed by publications ranging from the New York Times to Publishers Weekly. Copies will be available for sale and signing at the event.
DESSERT Looking for a way to make a splash at a summer picnic or dinner? The library has fancy cake pans and gelatin molds available to borrow. Make a delicious dessert in the shape of your child’s favorite cartoon character or present a stunning flower-shaped confection to your party guests, all with the library’s help.
