MOVIE NIGHT  Help us hunt down some spooky specters (or at least watch a team do it on-screen) at our monthly movie night this Thursday the 20th at 5:30 PM.  As always, we will have popcorn and soda on hand for you.  This month’s selection is rated PG-13 for “supernatural action and some crude humor.”

 

COMIC BOOK CLUB  Whether they’re into comic books or graphic novels, your pre-teen and teenaged children are welcome to join our new reading club.  Help them meet other fans of the medium, discuss their favorite characters and plots, and just generally have fun.  The next meeting is Thursday October 27th at 3:30 PM.

 

REGULAR PROGRAMS  Music and Movement for toddlers is Tuesday at 10 AM.  Story Time for ages 3 – 6, with picture books and crafts, is Wednesday at 10:30 AM.  Drop-in computer help will be next Tuesday October 25th and the following Tuesday, November 1st, from 6 PM – 7 PM.  Call the library or check out our website for the specifics on all of our upcoming events.

OCTOBER PROGRAMS  Computer help sessions will be on the 1st, 4th, 15th, and 25th.  Social Hour falls on the 12th, and Movie Night on the 20th.  Our new reading groups will meet on the 13th (Family Book Club discussing Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) and the 27th (Comic Books and Graphic Novels.)  We’ll be holding two crafting classes: Pumpkin Candle Holders for ages 5 and up on Saturday the 15th and decorative Burlap Pumpkins for adults on the 17th.  Finally, we’ll wrap up the month with a spooky-fun Halloween party on Saturday the 29th.  Join us for treats, costumes, games, and more.

CONSTRUCTION  Work will begin this week to replace portions of the stucco on the library building.  This should not impact library service.  Repairs continue on the front sidewalk and steps.

FAMILY BOOK CLUB  Join us this Thursday, the 15th, at 5 PM for the first meeting of our new family book club.  We’ll be reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, by Roald Dahl.  You do not have to purchase your own copy or read the book before the meeting.  Middle- and high-schoolers are also invited to the comic book reading club starting later this month on the 29th.

LIBRARY HOURS  The library will be closed in observance of Labor Day on Monday, September 5th.  Our regular 9 – 5 Saturday hours will return next week (on the 10th.)

 

SEPTEMBER PROGRAMMING  Computer help will be offered on the 3rd, 6th, 17th, and 27th.  These are personalized, drop-in sessions on a first-come, first-serve basis, designed to help you get started with basic computer use.  Social hour has been moved to the 21st, to make way for a “Welcome (Back) to the Library” Open House on Monday the 12th.  Our indoor and outdoor handicapped access lifts are both repaired, and we want you to come help us celebrate.  Movie night will be the 22nd.  In crafts, children ages 9 and up can create back back-to-school Tetris-themed magnets for their lockers on the 10th.  Finally, we have two new book clubs – one designed for families to read together on the 15th, and one for comic book lovers on the 29th.

DANCE FOR FREE  We’ll be offering a free trial dance class for children this Saturday the 27th at 1 PM.  The instructor is a local professional who offers regular classes in Ogdensburg.

 

MOVIE NIGHT Movie night will be this Thursday the 25th at 5:30 PM.  We’ll be watching a recent movie based on a popular video game.  Popcorn and soda will be provided, so grab your friends and family and join us.

CHILDREN’S CONCERT Take a Tromp Through the Swamp and a Break by the Lake with musician Tom Sieling this Thursday the 18th at 5 PM. Children and parents are invited – and will be expected to sing along. Stop by for fun!

 

KARATE AND DANCE We’ll be offering a free trial karate class for children this Saturday the 20th, and a free trial dance class next Saturday the 27th. Both sessions will be taught by local professionals who offer regular classes in Ogdensburg.

GARDEN CLUB  Thank you to the Garden Club for the immense amount of work they have put into the gardens around the Library and in Library Park.  The flowers are in enthusiastic bloom and everything looks beautiful.  Take a moment to appreciate their efforts the next time you’re out for a stroll around the building.

 

MOVIE NIGHT  Stop in for popcorn, soda, and a recent animated movie about animals who walk, talk, and solve crimes this Thursday the 16th at 5:30 PM.

BEADING  Come in to learn how to make a napkin holder with wire and beads next Monday the 13th at 3 PM.  All materials are provided, and there is no cost to attend.  If you would like to see additional crafting classes at different times, please offer your suggestions to library staff.
