BOOK SALE  The Friends of the Library book sale will continue all this week during library hours.  Stop in to pick up that perfect winter read at the perfect price.

AUTHOR BIRTHDAYS  November is packed with falling leaves, recipes for turkey, and authors’ birthdays.  Among those born this month: Bram Stoker, author of Dracula; Mark Twain; Narnia author and Christian writer C. S. Lewis; poet and artist William Blake; Neil Gaiman; Carl Sagan; Madeleine L’Engle; Kurt Vonnegut; and Rita Mae Brown.  Come take a book or two from the display and read them with a piece of cake in the author’s honor.

LIBRARY BUDGET  Thank you for all of your supportive letters and e-mails.  As a reminder, the City Council meets next Monday, the 16th, at 7 PM to vote on the library’s budget.  Please consider attending that meeting to speak out for the library and against funding cuts.  We appreciate your help.

BOOK SALE  The Friends of the Library book sale is almost here.  From Thursday at 6 PM through Saturday, they will be selling books, CDs, DVDs and more upstairs in the auditorium.  There are plenty of great deals, so make time to stop in.

THANKSGIVING CRAFTS  Our Gratitude Garland will be hanging around the library again this month.  All through November, drop in with your child and fill out a leaf to add to the display.  If you would like a take-home variation, our adult craft this month is a Thankfulness Tree.  Making it takes just a few minutes, and you can ask friends and family to add their thankful thoughts.  Stop in next Monday, November 9th, between 2 and 3:30.

LIBRARY BUDGET  The City Council meets on Monday, November 16th, at 7 PM to vote on departmental budgets for 2016.  The library is facing a potential cut in our funding which would result in reduced services.  If you enjoy using any of our programs, materials, computers, or other resources, please consider attending the meeting or writing a brief note to support us.  These can be submitted at the library or electronically through email or our social media sites.  We appreciate your help.

CONSTRUCTION  Work has begun on the library’s new exterior lift.  We expect the coming weeks to be a little loud and a little muddy, but we are as excited as you to see this project completed and full access to the building restored.  With a new sidewalk and repairs to the stucco where the old ramp was, the new lift should be operational by the end of November.  The handicap parking space on that side of the building may occasionally be blocked until that time.  As always, please contact the library with any concerns.  Thank you for your patience.
