WORD OF THE WEEK Bibliotaph: A person who hoards or hides books (and especially refuses to lend them for fear they won’t be returned)
HALLOWEEN PARTY Our annual children’s Halloween party is back this Saturday the 28th from 3 – 4:45 PM. We’ll have games, contests, and of course candy. Be sure to come in costume!
BOOK SALE It’s time for the Fall Book Sale. Doors open at 5 PM on Thursday the 26th, when Friends members receive half-off regular prices. Non-members will pay $3 for a hardcover book and $0.75 for a paperback. (You can, however, join the Friends that night.) The sale will be open from 9 – 5 on Friday the 27th and Saturday the 28th. Prices will decrease to $2 and $0.50 respectively on those days, and further to $1/$0.25 the following week, when the sale will be available during regular library hours Monday – Friday. We’ll wrap things up on Saturday November 4th with a bag sale – purchase a bag for $5 and fill it with whatever it can hold. The book sale also features non-book items, including CDs, DVDs, puzzles, magazines, and more. All profits go the Friends of the Ogdensburg Public Library, which funds programming and other purchases for the library throughout the year.
FAMILY BOOK CLUB You have your choice of books this month: either some of R. L. Stine’s Goosebumps books or, if you prefer something less spooky, Raina Telgemeier’s Smile. We’ll be discussing the books and making Halloween decorations in a jar this Thursday the 26th at 5 PM. New families are always welcome!
